Ming Ying

Ming Ying is a representative from the Boston Mayor’s Youth Council, which was where he heard about the National Teen Council. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts and attends Boston Latin School, where he plays for the tennis team and writes as an editor for the newspaper, the Argo. He is passionate about writing and math, he is intrigued by anything related to outer space, he enjoys public speaking and always has ideas floating around in his head—but in all he is a Boston resident, representative and typical of most teens living in his area.

Some more information about Ming: he is a member of my school’s Science Olympiad Team, he volunteers at a hospital on Fridays, and he takes Latin and Chinese at school. To him, leadership is synonymous with responsibility, a responsibility to be a leading voice and to acknowledge the significance of every person. “Having that sort of ability and mindset is not easy,” Ming said, “and leadership calls for the willingness to do things differently, to approach situations from a new light—to be different.”
